Phenocal Fat Burner Review
Phenocal fat burner is a natural dietary supplement that claims to help promote fat burning and weight loss.
Made by Pharmaxa labs it makes lots of claims and promises about its effects and benefits.
Lets take a good look at this supplement, and find to just how good (or bad) it really is.
Whats In Phenocal
The formula contains some proven ingredients for losing weight.
One thing to point out is that it is actually lacking some of the more popular ingredients found in competitors products.
After studying the ingredient list there are a lot of ingredients that contain various forms of caffeine, which could make it too powerful for some of you.
One main issue is that many of the ingredients are crammed into an undisclosed proprietary blend that does not reveal the amounts of each compound in the mix.
The information is not even disclosed on the official website which is not helpful in any shape or form.
It contains 11 ingredients as detailed below:
- Vitamin D3 1000iu
- Vitamin B3 25mg
- Vitamin B1 10mg
- Vitamin B5 10mg
- Vitamin B6 6mg
- Vitamin B12 50mcg
- Biotin 50mcg
- Chromium 100mcg
- Folic Acid 50mcg
- Fucoxanthin 100mg
- Bioperine 2.5mg
Plus an Undisclosed proprietary blend totalling 2230mg, this contains unknown amounts of:
Green tea leaf powder, Glucommanan, L-Tyrosine, Cocoa Extract, Hoodia, Green Tea leaf extract, Garcina Cambogia, Yerba Mate, Coleus Fosrkohlii, Evodiamine, L-Trypophan, CLA, 5-HTP.
Packing 13 ingredients into such a small blend means that there can only be small, trace amounts of each component in the mix.
This means that its without any doubt underpowered.
Looking At Some Of The Ingredients In More Detail
Green Tea Leaf Powder and Extract – Phenocal contains 2 versions of green tea – leaf powder and extract. It is a considered to be a very good fat burning ingredient found in many products.
Green tea is packed with anti oxidants, and natural caffeine.
Now caffeine is a well known stimulant, but it is another part of the green tea makeup that is the most important.
It is packed with antioxidants called Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG for short). This is known to provide a boost to the bodies metabolism, stimulating both fat burning and weight maintenance.
Green Tea leaf extract actually contains a greater amount of EGCG than the leaf powder, but we have to ask, was it the right choice to include both types of green tea in the mix, personally we would have liked to see another metabolism boosting ingredient, maybe capsicum (pepper extract) which would have been a better choice.
Increasing metabolism is crucial to fat loss, it helps your body to burn more energy, even at rest, and where does it get the fuel for all that energy? From stored fat cells thats where..
Green tea is an excellent ingredient, but the manufacturers decision to hide the dosing details from us doesn’t lead us to believe that there is actually enough in the mix to have any real effect.
Glucommanan – one of the ingredients that we actually love, a clinically proven dietary fibre that is recognised for its amazing appetite surprising properties.
Glucommanan also feeds the friendly bacteria in our digestive system, helping them to produce butyrate, a natural fatty acid that stops fat gain.
The only down side is the fact that we do not know how much is included in each serving.
Cocoa Extract – There is only one reason to include cocoa in a fat burner and that is for its high levels of stimulants.
Now this comes with its own problems, its know that anybody who drinks a lot of coffee can become immune to many of the effects of stimulants, in fact the only effect that doesn’t appear to be effected is the ability to disrupt sleep in time users.
The only way to side step this problem is to cycle (stop and start) any product that contains cocoa alongside other stimulants, this makes taking a product to lose weight over a mid to long term a problem, as it disrupts the effects, basically meaning that you have to go back to square one each time you start taking it.
Aside from the stimulant content, there is nothing else in cocoa that actually helps generate weight loss.
Biotin – Part of the Vitamin B family, its already found in large amounts n the body, so supplementation is not usually needed.
Its known for its effects on promoting hair growth and possibly to boost cognitive function, but there is no clinical evidence to suggest that it helps in any way with weight loss.
Fucoxanthin – a natural carotenoid that has anti inflammatory benefits, and it is thought to boost liver health. It has no evidence behind it confirming that it can help in any way with fat burning.
it has been linked to some side effects including headaches, and stomach problems including diarrhea, so its not ideal.
Folic Acid – Proven to boost kidney and blood health, but has no clinical backing behind it that suggests any weight loss benefits
Directions For Taking Phenocal.
The suggested daily serving is 3 capsules per day, but its not clear just how or when you should take them.
What Do Users Say About Phenocal?
Feedback from users is rather mixed. Some talk about increased energy levels (something that we would expect given the amount of stimulants in the mix).
But in the main, not many users actually talk about good levels of fat loss after using this product.
What Does This Tell Us
What the majority of feedback tells us is that Phenocal is quite good as an energy booster, but as a true fat burner, it does not seem to deliver much weight loss to its users.
It would probably be good as a pre-workout supplement helping to give you that extra energy boost that you need just before a workout…
One thing that we would like to mention is that its possibly just too much for women to take. In fact anybody (man or woman) who has an intolerance to caffeine and other stimulants could find it too powerful.
Two of the ingredients in particular can cause some side effects.
Caffeine can cause problems such as sleeplessness, muscle tremors, stomach problems and anxiety.
Fucoxanthin has been linked to diarrhea, headaches and gastric issues
Where To Buy Phenocal
You can buy direct from the official website plus amazon and sometimes ebay.
It costs in the region of $39.99 for a months supply
The makers do offer a cash back guarantee, but it doesn’t not appear to apply to opened products.
Phenocal looks the part at first glance. But when you delve into the formula its apparent that its a simple caffeine pill with a few trace amounts of other ingredients thrown in…
As an energy booster its going to offer some sort lived benefits, but as for weight loss, its not going to do too much for you at all –
There are far better products out there that use better formulas. Most have solid feedback from users and provide inclusive cash back guarantees that cover opened products too.
